Preparation

  1. Put onions and whole spices in cold pot. Cover with lid.
  2. Heat up on medium level for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Do the hand test.
  4. Lift lid and fry onions for 2-3 minutes till they turn slightly pink in colour. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute, too.
  5. Add rice, water and all the other ingredients including spice mix, stir and close the lid.
  6. Do the hand test.
  7. Switch to low level and cook for about 12 minutes.
  8. Switch off the heat, stir well and keep covered for a few minutes before serving. Garnish and serve hot with raita of your choice.
