Preparation

  1. Pour ½ cup of water together with the washed pulses into a 20cm high. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, and a few drops  of oil. Cook for 30-35 minutes, following the AMC cooking method of cooking dehydrated foods.
  2. When done, add the seasoning. For the seasoning, heat up a 16 cm double handle on high heat. Just before the red indicator of the visiotherm reaches the frying window. Add the oil and cumin seeds.
  3. Once the cumin seeds crackle, add the onions and fry on medium heat till light pink.
  4. Stir in the remaining seasoning ingredients. Cover and cook till the tomatoes soften.
  5. Pour the seasoning into the cooked pulses along with enough water to get the desired consistency. Simmer for a few minutes.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rotis or rice.
